HCMC - AECOM Technology Corp. officially launched its new brand in Vietnam on Thursday, boosting its presence in the country with professional technical and management support services in transportation, environment, energy, and water among others.
Peter Lee, senior vice president in Southeast Asia for AECOM, told a news briefing held at the five-star hotel InterContinental Asiana Saigon in downtown HCMC on Thursday that the launch aimed to introduce the integrated operations, which encompass its previous operating companies, in a move to create a platform to deliver an integrated one-stop service to its clients.
There is a lot of potential in Vietnam for us to work with various institutions and government departments to create and enhance natural and social environments, Lee said.
The Los Angles-based company says it will continue looking for business opportunities in services of architecture, building engineering, design and planning, energy, environment, project management, urban development and transportation.
At the launching event, the company marked its presence by signing two memorandums of understanding with the HCMC Department of Science and Technology to cooperate for information exchange in practices and techniques for sustainable design and green technologies.
Prior to the signing ceremony, Vincent Tong, the companys regional managing director, presented the topic of sustainable building design, saying that governments and institutions around the world are increasingly concerned about the adverse impact of urbanization.
To lessen such adverse impact, he said, it was imperative to invest in green technology and incorporate environmentally friendly features in buildings.
AECOM entered Vietnam in 1992 and has done some 10 projects, including Phu My cable stayed bridge, East-West Highway, Danang Integrated Beach and Golf Resort, Nha Trang Resort and Centec Tower in HCMC.
